With the international break underway right now, it can be boring to not have Leeds action to look ahead to on a weekend.
A good number of their senior squad are out on international duty, though, and worth keeping an eye on as they hope to put in good performances for their country.
With Manchester City youngster and England under-21 captain from the successful European U21 Championships in the summer, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, out injured for this international break, it has given Charlie Cresswell the much-needed chance to start.
A home clash against Serbia at the City Ground on Thursday night should have brought a first goal at this level as he somehow skewed a close range header wide of the near post, but it mattered very little by full-time as England ran out 9-1 winners.
Up next is a trip to take on Ukraine, taking place in Slovakia on Monday evening, where Cresswell will be hopeful that he keeps his place at the heart of defence in a star-studded lineup.
At present, this England stint looks like Cresswell’s only chance of starting a football match, given that Leeds’ centre-back partnership of Pascal Struijk and Joe Rodon seems untouchable.
However, if Cresswell can put in another commanding display, he’s going to surely show Farke that he’s not going away, and is putting the work in to prove he’s worth considering at the very least.
It might not mean he disrupts arguably Leeds’ strongest area on the team sheet, but it does prove that we have adequate cover if the worst should happen.
He penned a new deal to keep him here until 2027, and will be intent on forcing his way into the side during that time
