Breaking News:Leeds United finally extend Kalvin Phillips’ three-year contract…..

Kalvin Phillips wants to stay at Leeds United, new contract expected in the summer

Kalvin Phillips is due to be offered a new contract at Leeds United that will match the financial power of rivals attempting to buy him, reports The Times.

West Ham and Aston Villa have become the most active chasers of the England midfielder, with the Hammers making repeated bids for him in January, while the Villains were reported by The Times on Sunday (20 March) to be readying a £60million bid and major salary hike for him in the summer.

The Whites are now reportedly ready to head off this interest with an improved deal of their own, and the player is expected to favour staying at Elland Road.

In the face of the interest from West Ham and Villa, The Times report says: “Leeds, however, are confident that Phillips is eager to stay at his hometown club and talks over a new deal to remain at Elland Road will begin once the season is concluded.

“The Times understands there is no desire from the Leeds board to sell the 26-year-old, despite growing interest in him. Phillips is contracted to the club until 2024 but that deal was signed before he became an England regular under Gareth Southgate.

“Leeds sources believe that a new contract will match the growing financial power of Villa and West Ham.
