Leeds United team news as Luis Sinisterra misses clash with Birmingham City and depth exposed

Daniel Farke has made three changes from the side that beat Shrewsbury Town on Wednesday

Leeds United will be without a number of star names this afternoon as they take on Birmingham City at St Andrew’s. The Whites have travelled without Wilfried Gnonto, as confirmed on Friday evening, following the forward’s refusal to play as he looks for a move away.

However, Luis Sinisterra won’t be involved, either, which comes as a huge blow for Farke and Leeds. The Colombian international has played the first two games of the season for the Whites, incl uding a short cameo against Shrewsbury Town, but he isn’t involved today for reasons which are currently unknown.

That means Jamie Shackleton steps into the front four to make his first league start in over a year for the Whites. He’s joined in the line-up by Ian Poveda, who is making his first league start for the club in two years, to give the front line a fresh feel.

Joe Gelhardt gets the nod up front and he’ll belooking to follow up on his goalscoring performance in the Carabao Cup, while Sam Byram comes into the line-up to start at left-back. Charlie Cresswell starts at centre-back despite new signing Joe Rodon being available.

Rodon has been named on the bench alongside fit again Frenchman Georginio Rutter, who will be keen to have an impact later in the game. Leeds have only named eight substitutes for the game, two of whom are goalkeepers.
