Leeds United transfer news as financial claims emerge on ‘world class’ star amid Elland Road exit

The transfer situation surrounding Leeds United attacker and Everton target Wilfried Gnonto could get messy if not dealt with quickly, according to Dean Jones.

The former Eurosport journalist reported on Saturday (19 August) that the right money needs to be found in order to satisfy all the parties involved in this deal.

The 19-year-old Italy international wants his way out of Elland Road and is open to moving to Goodison Park and returning to the Premier League.

Jones told Give Me Sport, “Gnonto is not going to want to be a Leeds player for much longer. And the balance they’ve got before this heads towards an ugly ending is finding the right money that satisfies everybody.

“Gnonto doesn’t have a release clause, which makes this very difficult for him. Now other players looking to leave, like Tyler Adams, had a release clause, but Gnonto doesn’t, meaning Leeds have more control over this situation.”

Leeds must stick to the price that they want for Gnonto and not negotiate it any further as he’s an asset they’ve got to make the most out of.

He informed the hierarchy way too late about his intention to leave the club and that certainly would not have sat well with Daniel Farke.

Unlike Southampton and Leicester, Leeds have failed to make big-money sales and if Gnonto does leave, it’s going to probably be their biggest sale of the summer.

Hopefully, sooner rather than later, this situation is resolved and given how slow the club’s transfer activity is, it’s best if he stays on.

It’s unlikely that they’ll find someone as talented as the Italian in the next week and that will not be a great look at all.

Things need to progress quickly and there need to be at least three or four faces in before the end of the window.
