Leeds United’s new signing Ilia Gruev delivers a heartfelt tribute to his supporters.

Ilia Gruev of Leeds United has been chastised alongside his Bulgarian teammates following a poor run of international results. Since moving to England, the Whites’ summer signing has played just three minutes at Elland Road, struggling for consistent playing time.

He did, however, start for Bulgaria in their EURO 24 qualifier against Lithuania, which they lost 2-0. A brace from Pijus Sirvys at the Vasil Levski Stadium in Bulgaria provided the away team a crucial three points, dropping Bulgaria to the bottom of the group.

Gruev’s team has only two points from six qualifying games so far and seems like to miss out on the Euros in Germany next summer. Following the game, BTA published a scathing critique of the Bulgarian team, singling out Gruev for his poor performance.

They went on to say: “Leeds United’s new signing Ilia Gruev also has no explanation as to why the series of ridiculous losses, poor results.” Dnevnik journalist Simeon Kichukov described Bulgaria’s performance as “toothless.”
