Leicester City are finalising a £6.4m deal with Montpellier for former Arsenal forward Stephy Mavididi who is expected to undergo a medical before the weekend.
The Foxes have been busy so far in this summer’s transfer market as they look to bounce straight back to the Premier League following their relegation last season, under new boss Enzo Maresca.
They have already recruited Harry Winks from Tottenham, Wolves‘ Conor Coady as well as goalkeeper Mads Hermansen and now look to set to bolster their attacking options with the purchase of Mavididi.
Mavididi joined the Gunners at 13 and rose up the academy ranks, but never made a first-team appearance for the club.
The striker spent time on loan with Charlton and Preston whilst at the Emirates, before moving to Juventus in 2018 – where he became the first English player to appear for the club since David Platt in 199
In April his appearance tally for Montpellier saw break Chris Waddle’s record for the most games played in France’s top division by an English player.
The 25-year-old will now head back to England and compete with Jamie Vardy, Patson Daka and Kelechi Iheanacho in the Foxes attack.
Leicester kick-off their Championship campaign at home to Coventry, on 6 August.
