The latest Nottingham Forest news as Brentford are the next visitors to the City Ground in the Premier League, after Forest take on Man City at the Etihad Stadium.
Brentford have confirmed that full-back Rico Henry is expected to miss the remainder of the campaign after suffering a serious knee injury.
The 26-year-old had played the full 90 minutes of every league game for the Bees so far this season, but was taken off in the 42nd minute of the weekend’s 1-0 defeat against Newcastle United. He fell awkwardly after battling Kieran Trippier for the ball.
Brentford have now confirmed that Henry has suffered a ‘significant’ knee injury and will undergo surgery to rectify the problem before starting his rehabilitation. The news comes just over a week before Forest host Brentford at the City Ground.
Henry is Brentford’s longest-serving player, having been with the club since the summer of 2016. He played a total of 37 times in the Premier League last season, missing just one game through injury.
It’s not the first time that the defender has had to come back from a serious knee problem. He missed over a year between October 2017 and November 2018 with a knee injury picked up in a Championship clash against Middlesbrough.
In a statement on their official website, Brentford head of medical Neil Greig confirmed the news. “Rico will require surgery in the next week or so and, unfortunately, a prolonged period of recovery,” he said. “Whilst this is disappointing, Rico has been through a similar experience in the past and is already focussed on using this as an opportunity to become fitter and stronger than before. We will support him fully throughout this process.
Ahead of the game against Brentford, Forest have the small task of a trip to the Etihad Stadium to take on Man City. While Forest have begun their preparations for the game, Man City are in Champions League action tonight (Tuesday) as they take on Crvena Zvezda at the Etihad Stadium.
