Liverpool are reportedly ready to hand Gabri Veiga a contract worth £82,000-a-week as the Reds look to step up their interest in the Celta Vigo star.

According to Corriere del Mezzogiorno via Press Reader, the Anfield side have been in talks with Veiga’s representatives over bringing the youngster to Merseyside, with Liverpool willing to award the midfielder a contract worth €5m (£4.7m) a year, which equates to around £82,000-a-week.

Veiga is one of the most sought after midfielder’s in Europe and is expected to decide on a move in the coming weeks once Spain’s participation in the U-21 Euros is over, with Liverpool seemingly one of the leading clubs to land the La Liga prospect

Veiga’s stock has risen considerably over the last 12 months. Yet this latest update seems to indicate that Liverpool are willing to go big on bringing the talented midfielder to Anfield, and this could help the Reds massively in their bid to recruit the Spaniard.

As we know, Liverpool are on the hunt for another midfield signing having already captured Alexis Mac Allister. And Veiga’s profile as well as his age make him a perfect addition this summer, with his wage offer a sign that the Reds are keen to get the deal through without a hitch.

Lauded as ‘spectacular’ by the Spanish press, Veiga could be an ideal signing for the Reds given his unique midfield profile of being a goalscorer. And this latest update seems to suggest that Liverpool are trying hard to get everything in place before triggering the youngster’s release clause.

Indeed, Celta Vigo stand to make £34m from the sale of Veiga, and with Liverpool now ready to go big on the midfielder’s wages, it could be only a matter of time before the Reds activate the 21-year-old’s exit clause.
