According to reports, Liverpool have ‘joined Man Utd and Newcastle United’ in the race to sign USA international Tyler Adams from Leeds United.
The West Yorkshire outfit paid around £20m to sign Adams from RB Leipzig last summer.
The centre-midfielder was arguably Leeds United’s best player up until him suffering a season-ending injury in March. He was sorely missed during the run-in as his side suffered relegation to the Championship.
Adams was never likely to have much trouble securing himself a move back to the Premier League and he has already been linked with Aston Villa, Man Utd and Nottm Forest.
Liverpool have already paid £35m to sign Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton but they are expected to sign one or two more midfielders before next season.
TEAMtalk are reporting that ‘Adams has told Leeds United he wants to play in the Premier League next season and he knows a host of clubs want to sign him
The report notes that The Athletic have revealed Leeds United’s asking price for Adams is £40m and he is ‘also on the radar’ of Newcastle United.
TEAMtalk ‘can confirm’ that Man Utd ‘have checked on him’, while ‘Liverpool could soon join the race for Adams after checking on his availability themselves’.
Liverpool are well-covered in attacking areas but recent reports have indicated that they are in the market for a new defender. And Football Insider are claiming that the Premier League giants are ‘prioritising a defender signing’ but they are ‘not in the running’ for Bayern Munich star Benjamin Pavard.
