Liverpool face competition from Arsenal and Newcastle for Goncalo Inacio
Three Premier League clubs including Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Liverpool obviously, are having a look at Sporting CP’s 21-year-old centre-half Goncalo Inacio.
That is as per the Spanish outlet AS via liverpool.com. The Portuguese international could prove to be a smart investment for the Reds, as we would need a left-sided centre-half in case we decide to deploy Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield as we would then progress to a back-three.
Inacio is also attracting a number of other Premier League clubs but with the form of our defenders at the moment, and the potential change of style of play heading forward, there could be a case of Liverpool needing his services more than any other club at the moment. Liverpool’s interest in the player is justified as we surely need a player of that sort
release clause of £39m is surely affordable for a club like Liverpool. Irrespective of that, the player would undoubtedly add quality to our lineup and there is very little reason why we should not explore all the possibilities for a deal with Sporting for the player.
Inacio would surely appreciate the idea of playing in the Premier League and that too, for a team like ours. However, the interest from Newcastle and Arsenal adds intrigue to the situation. Unlike us, both teams are in a position to offer UEFA Champions League football, at least for now.
It is very evident that the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip cannot go on and on. We need a young player who can partner and develop alongside Ibrahima Konatefor the foreseeable future.
Liverpool’s history under the ownership of Fenway Sports Group demonstrates a cautious approach to transfer spending, focusing on long-term sustainability. The club’s hierarchy will undoubtedly consider the financial implications of any potential move for Inacio.
Nonetheless, the reported interest from Liverpool, Arsenal, and Newcastle United signifies the growing recognition of Inacio’s talents. It also underlines the club’s commitment to identifying and acquiring promising young players who can contribute to Liverpool’s success both in the present and future.
