Liverpool ‘in direct talks’ to hajick Arsenal to fure signing after Dominik deal

Liverpool are interested in signing Romeo Lavia from Southampton after landing Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig

Liverpool are now reportedly in direct talks with both Romeo Lavia’s representatives and Southampton over a deal for the Belgian after unveiling the arrival of Dominik Szoboszlai. The developments would appear to indicate the Reds are now going after a third midfield acquisition after the Hungarian maestro joined Alexis Mac Allister at Anfield as Jurgen Klopp’s summer overhaul continues to take shape in ambitious fashion.

It’s well documented that Liverpool have waved goodbye to three midfielders this summer in the form of James Milner, Alex Oxalde-Chamberlain and Naby Keita and now Klopp could immediately replace them with three eye-catching additions.

Liverpool are also thought to be targeting another central defender this summer but for now, it seems their work is not yet done when it comes to reshaping their midfield.

According to Fabrizio Romano, work is now underway on a deal for Lavia, who is also wanted by Arsenal this summer.

The transfer expert said via his YouTube channel: “Liverpool are now into the race and as I already mentioned, they are into this. They are working on Romeo Lavia and they are now having direct contacts on both player and club side.

So, Liverpool and Arsenal are into the race and the two clubs are pushing. It’s crucial to say though for Liverpool that despite signing Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, there is still the desire to bring in new players.

“A defensive midfielder, like Lavia. So, Romeo Lavia is now a target for Liverpool. Southampton are demanding around £50m, which is why there’s been no bid yet.

Arsenal’s interest appears to hinge on whether they find a buyer for Thomas Partey with Granit Xhaka still expected to depart for Bayer Leverkusen.

The Swiss’ departure is being held up by the ongoing delays to the club-record acquisition of Declan Rice which is now on the verge of completion.
