Liverpool are now planning an opening bid worth around £35million for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia.
Romeo Lavia has been growing annoyed that a potential move to Liverpool has been dragging on.
That is according to Belgian reporter Sacha Tavolieri, who claims that Liverpool have ‘finally’ started talks with Southampton to sign Lavia.
Tavolieri claims that Lavia’s representatives have just agreed personal terms with Liverpool and the Reds are making their move.
It’s stated that Lavia was waiting for the green light from Liverpool and was actually getting ‘a little annoyed’ that the move wasn’t advancing.
Liverpool are now ready to make their move and will allegedly open the bidding at around £35million.
Whether Southampton are tempted to sell at that price remains to be seen.
Manchester City have a £40million buy-back clause on Lavia, but it can only be activated in 2024.
It seems unlikely that Southampton would take less than that amount right now, but it’s only an opening bid and Liverpool could yet go higher.
Fabinho and Jordan Henderson appear to be nearing moves to the Middle East, leaving major holes in Liverpool’s midfield ranks.
A natural holder will be needed to replace Fabinho and Lavia could be their man.
The 19-year-old is still learning but he showed encouraging signs for Southampton last season and has been hailed as hailed as ‘very special’ by Jadon Sancho.
Liverpool clearly see big potential in Lavia, although replacing Fabinho is a daunting task.
The hope is that Lavia can kick on and become a star at Anfield – if this £35million offer is accepted by the relegated Saints.
