Liverpool mean business this summer transfer window!
After neglecting their midfield for way too long, the Reds are aiming for an overhaul this summer, with two midfielders having already been signed. Alexis Mac Allister was recruited from Brighton while a deal for Dominik Szoboszlai has just been completed after triggering his $76.4M release clause.
However, the Merseyside giants are not yet done. According to talkSPORT, Klopp’s side are eyeing a move for another midfielder, and this time, it’s a highly-rated Premier League talent.
That player is none other than Romeo Lavia, the Southampton ace who enjoyed a breakout season last term despite the club’s relegation. The Belgian ace, albeit just 19, put in a handful of eye-catching displays and is now garnering interest from the country’s biggest clubs.
Not only are Liverpool keen on bringing the teenager to Anfield but he is also on the wish list of Manchester United and Arsenal, two other Premier League giants in need of midfield reinforcements. However, the Reds look to beat both sides to Lavia’s signature by lodging in an early bid while the Red Devils and the Gunners are caught up with other business.
The player is also on Chelsea’s list but Liverpool have now moved ahead of the Blues in the race. Southampton value the player at £50M but it remains to be seen whether the Merseyside giants will match that figure.
Lavia left Man City for regular playing time and while the Cityzens have a buy-back option, that does not come into effect until next summer. However, the Premier League champions have a sell-on clause that entitles them to 10 percent of Lavia’s transfer fee, which would total £10M if Southampton’s £50M valuation is met.
