JUST NOW:Liverpool finally appoint Paul Tierney for Wolves clash after Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool return to action this weekend away to Wolves with the officials now announced for the fixture.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is set for another unwelcome reunion with Paul Tierney this weekend as the official has been put on VAR duty for the Reds’ match against Wolves. Klopp was given a two-match ban for his tirade against Tierney in Liverpool’s dramatic 4-3 win over Tottenham at the end of last season.

The Liverpool manager was furious with Tierney as he questioned whether the referee had an agenda against the Merseyside outfit. He said after the match: “I really don’t know what he has against us. He has said there [are] no problems but that cannot be true

Tierney was on VAR duty for that match and he failed to overturn Alexis Mac Allister’s harsh red card, despite the midfielder later having his ban rescinded following an appeal. And the 42-year-old from Greater Manchester will be back working in Stockley Park for another Liverpool match this weekend.

He’s been named as the Video Assistant Referee for Liverpool’s clash with Wolves, with Michael Oliver taking charge on the pitch.
