Liverpool ‘seduce’ £55m ‘priority’ transfer ‘objective’ as rivals ‘bid hard’ for Klopp’s midfield target

Liverpool have reportedly identified Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram as their ‘priority objective’ after Alexis Mac Allister joined from Brighton.

The Premier League giants were always going to look to sign two or three midfielders this summer following the departures of Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

They have already acquired Mac Allister, as the World Cup winner has signed for Liverpool from Brighton for around £35m.

Liverpool are now reportedly turning their attention to Thuram, who has been making an impact in Ligue 1 with Nice.

The defensive midfielder shone during the 2022/23 campaign as he grabbed two goals and eight assists in his 48 appearances across all competitions.

The 22-year-old is under contract until 2025 and he could cost as much as £55m this summer.

Contacts between the parties involved in the deal have ‘multiplied in recent weeks’ and the midfielder is understood to be ‘seduced’ by Liverpool.

The Reds seemingly have their eyes on several targets as they are also being linked with Borussia Monchengladbach’s Manu Kone and Celta Vigo’s Gabri Veiga. Regarding the latter, there is a £34m release clause in his contract and he is also admired by Chelsea and Man Utd.

But according to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Serie A champions Napoli ‘have joined the race’ to sign Veiga and they are ‘challenging the big teams in the Premier League’.

The player’s fate has ‘become a mystery’ but Napoli ‘have not lost hope of signing one of the best youngsters on the continent.
