Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq, who are now managed by former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, have made the decision to take Jordan Henderson to the club on a reported £700-000-a-week contract.
The England midfielder is right at the back-end of his playing days at Anfield and has received the massive offer after Gerrard told his new club to make a move for the
According to reporter Iomie Stanley – Liverpool have already made preparations for Henderson’s departure and the club will make a move for Lavia when they lose their captain.
He said: ‘Jurgen Klopp has already held talks with Lavia about a move to Anfield and the Southampton midfielder is keen on a move to Anfield.
‘Klopp will not be happy about losing his Captian – but he totally understands the decision that Henderson is making and wants to make sure that a young, hungry midfielder is signed.’
Southampton manager Russell Martin recently admitted some of his players will leave the club this summer
I hope I can convince some people to stay who were 50-50 about it,” Martin, who recently left Swansea for the Southampton job, told BBC Radio Solent. “I think there will be some players who we can’t avoid [losing] who will be back in the Premier League.
“That’s the nature of the game and some of them will be far too attractive to Premier League teams and will want to go and play in the Premier League. You have to respect that.
Lavia is a very special talent and a lad that has a big future in the game –
£50 million is alot of money to pay for someone that had done nothing in the game and it could be another expensive gamble from the Reds to make if they do actually pay that amount of cash.
However – we feel that he will not make much of a difference in that LIVERPOOL side and the Reds should be looking at a more established player to help close the gap on Man City.
