Leeds United are considering a surprise move to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Jonjo Shelvey. The 31-year-old has no future at the City Ground and spent the summer playing pre-season friendlies with the B-Team.
According to TEAMtalk, Shelvey is now in line for a move to Elland Road. Daniel Farke is keen to strengthen his side after losing Tyler Adams to Bournemouth over the weekend.
Shelvey signed for Forest on a free transfer during the January transfer window. Having not played much for Newcastle, it did seem a bit of a strange signing from the outset.
The experienced player made just eight appearances for the Reds. Shelvey didn’t play again for Forest after taking badly to being told he would be on the bench for a game against Liverpool at Anfield.
It was uncertain whether or not, Shelvey would earn a reprieve during pre-season. However, Steve Cooper has stuck to his guns and banished him from training with the senior ranks.
Shelvey has been linked with a move to Sheffield United already this summer. However, Leeds are the latest club to enquire to Forest about him.
It’s likely that the Reds will want to get him out of the club in some way. A loan move does seem more likely given that Forest gave him a contract worth around £75,000-a-week.

This would be a huge bonus for Forest. Hopefully, they can come to an agreement with Leeds and Shelvey can head out to play some football this season.
It would be amazing if Forest could offload Shelvey on a permanent basis. That does seem unlikely though and even getting him out on loan would be ideal.
Shelvey has zero future at Forest. Cooper has made that clear by omitting him from pre-season with the senior ranks and Leeds would be a decent switch for him.
Forest are working hard to clear the decks this summer. Getting Shelvey out of the door would be a huge step in the right direction and hopefully, something can happen before the window closes.
