Los Angeles Lakers Prefer To Keep D’Angelo Russell Amid Offensive Resurgence

Despite continuous trade rumors, the Los Angeles Lakers are keeping a close eye on D’Angelo Russell.

Lakers guard D’Angelo Russell has essentially played his way off the trade block with a fantastic run of play after being the subject of trade rumors for weeks. Insider Adrian Wojnarowski claims that D’Lo is no longer “widely available,” as he was believed to be at the beginning of the year.

With D’Angelo Russell returning to the starting lineup as their point guard, the [Lakers] calculus has altered in recent weeks. He’s playing some of the best basketball of his career right now, and three weeks to a month ago, he was pretty accessible. I believe the Lakers believed there might be a chance to upgrade on him. Regarding the Lakers, Wojnarowski stated, “That isn’t the case right now.Russell was subjected to an extremely loud atmosphere, and it was evident that his lack of output was frustrating the team. Rewinding to last month, the Lakers were at their lowest point after a poor run of games caused them to tumble down the rankings. D’Angelo was having trouble with his shot during the stretch, so Darvin Ham pulled him from the game briefly while he tried to find a way to stop the bleeding. However, D’Lo seemed to come back at the right moment, and as a scorer, creator, and ball handler for the Purple and Gold, he has been on fire in recent weeks. He’s been the Lakers’ go-to point guard when LeBron James and Anthony Davis aren’t around, and if he can continue to be reliabl

The Lakers are still outside the top six and far from being able to compete with the best teams, including the Nuggets, Thunder, and the scorching Los Angeles Clippers, even with Russell’s performance. Even though they might not want to give up any future assets, LeBron’s advanced age forces them to make all the necessary sacrifices in order to win another championship. But with their remaining assets, who will the Lakers ultimately acquire? The Lakers could also consider trading for Trae Young, a star player for the Hawks who averages 27.3 points, 10.9 assists, and 2.8 rebounds per game on 43.5% shooting. Young would give the Lakers a much-needed boost with his scoring and ability to create opportunities for his teammates. Alternatively, the Lakers could consider trading for Murray, who would give them better defense and scoring in a supporting role. As of right now, the Hawks have not even come close to accepting any offer for their backcourt, but anything could change before tomorrow’s deadline.

The Lakers may also be interested in players like Spencer Dinwiddie, Alex Caruso, and Bruce Brown. As the clock ticks down to zero, the Lakers are currently exploring every avenue and will not rule out any suggestions to raise their profile and bolster their roster around LeBron James. But given how depleted the team’s resources are already, don’t expect Rob Pelinka to trade for just anybody.
