BBC NEW: Matt Rempe of the Rangers was dismissed following an aggressive hit that left Devils ready

In Newark on Thursday, the Matt Rempe hit tour continued.

During the Rangers’ opening shift against the Devils at the Prudential Center, Rempe slammed Nathan Bastian against the boards, breaking his stick in the process and knocking the New Jersey forward to the ground.

The majority of the blow went to Bastian’s head, which sent him straight to the Devils locker room.

Reacting angrily, Jonas Siegenthaler challenged Rempe right away, and the Devils defenseman was knocked down in just two blows.

Rempe’s night was halted when he was given a roughing and match penalties. Rempe is a 6-foot-8 ½ forward.
