During the NBA trade deadline, the Los Angeles Lakers will try to improve where it makes sense. In an effort to strengthen their roster going forward, the Memphis Grizzlies will look to offload assets in the wake of Ja Morant’s season-ending labrum injury.
A perfect marriage is thus created.
Despite their divergent paths, the two Western Conference teams can complement one another. While the Grizzlies may select draft picks or young players for the future, Los Angeles might be able to add a rotation player to aid in the playoff push.
After Ja Morant’s season-ending injury, the Lakers should trade for these three Grizzlies:
1. Derrick Rose
Derrick Rose has been associated with the Lakers for an extended period of time. Rose is not the same player he was when he was acquired by the Lakers three years prior, but as an experienced guard off the bench, he can still be useful.
Given that Gabe Vincent is injured and D’Angelo Russell is in the dog house, the Lakers don’t really have a true point guard they can rely on. In the regular season, Los Angeles needs an adult player who can play point guard, even if it’s only for fifteen minutes every night.
And if Rose makes a smooth transition to the Lakers, who knows what might occur. Let’s not forget that Rajon Rondo was the third-most important player on the 2020 Lakers and many fans wrote him off before the bubble began.
Rose is currently out for the foreseeable future due to a hamstring injury. He is worth a shout out for the Lakers as long as it doesn’t seem to be anything serious.
