Miami Heat forward Haywood Highsmith officially announced his return to the team today after surviving a car accident.

 

On Thursday night, the Miami Heat got some encouraging news about forward Haywood Highsmith and the car accident that happened on Tuesday.

“Miami Heat starter Haywood Highsmith will return to the team and practice on Friday after a car accident and being ticketed for careless driving,” according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Jerry Dianis, Highsmith’s agent, issued the following statement:

“Haywood Highsmith was involved in a car accident that resulted in one person being injured while traveling home following the Miami Heat game against the Orlando Magic. Haywood struck a pedestrian pushing a disabled car in the middle of a pitch-black road at about 11:20 p.m., according to Dianis.
