Miami Heat officials prepare to finalize their first major trading agreement of 2024 ahead of deadline.

Executives at the Miami Heat have always had a voracious appetite for elite players and a knack for landing them.

Donovan Mitchell is the star player most likely to end up in Miami, according to recent reports.

Zach Buckley of B/R offered the following commentary on the subject:

Although the Heat haven’t changed course since losing the Damian Lillard sweepstakes this summer, they might still be looking to acquire a top-tier shot-maker. If the Cavs decide to trade for Donovan Mitchell, they might not be able to find a better young player than Miami, assuming the Heat are ready to give up all three of Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and Nikola Jović.

Miami has previously expressed interest in Mitchell, and given that his eventual departure from Cleveland is regarded as the NBA’s worst-kept secret, the Cavaliers may very well put him up for trade.

The Heat need to decide if giving up players for Mitchell is worth the risk.

Although he is well-known, he has a bad reputation for not being able to perform well during the postseason.

But through 24 games this season, Mitchell is averaging 27.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 5.7 assists.
