Midfielder ‘closes door’ on Nottingham Forest transfer amid Premier League interest

AS Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana has reportedly turned down a move to Nottingham Forest this summer.

Forest were readying a “formal offer” for the 24-year-old, only for the player to “close the door” on a move to the City Ground.

That’s according to RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, who says Fofana has other offers amid interest from Premier League rivals West Ham.

Hawkins tweeted: “Nottingham Forest tried to sign Youssouf Fofana. The English are ready to make a written offer to ASM but the player who has other offers has closed the door. West Ham are still there.”

Since joining Monaco in 2018, Fofana has made 140 appearances for the Ligue 1 club. He has been virtually ever-present in each of the last three seasons, and previously won the Coupe de la Ligue with Strasbourg before being a World Cup runner-up with France in 2022. He now looks like he could be set for a Premier League move with West Ham.
