Mike McCarthy declare:  The $82.5 million starting player for the Cowboys will eventually be benched.

The Dallas Cowboys are currently reeling from two straight road defeats, and a big part of the problem has been their pass blocking. Terence Steele’s dismal performances have played a significant role in Dallas’ 14 sack surrender in the last four games.

This past offseason, Steele was given a five-year contract worth $82.5 million, but he has not performed up to the pay. Pro Football Focus has rated the veteran tackle at 50.3 through 15 games. Additionally, according to the website, his seven allowed sacks are tied for eighth most in the NFL.

Steele’s grade of less than fifty points was shared by three Cowboys players in the team’s Christmas Eve loss to the Miami Dolphins. Even though it’s not ideal,

Tyron Smith’s left tackle position needed to be filled by Chuma Edoga against Miami; however, if Smith’s health improves, Edoga could eventually replace Steele at right tackle. The Cowboys can’t afford to have the tackle give up sacks during the postseason, but that doesn’t mean they should try to sever ties with him.

Additional Offensive Problems Affecting Dallas
In addition to their poor blocking, the Cowboys also appeared to ignore CeeDee Lamb, their most potent offensive weapon. Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott did not target the team’s top receiver for almost two quarters after the latter started off hot with a 49-yard touchdown reception.
