Damian Lillard was not available to the Miami Heat this summer. Pat Riley tried to pry the All-Star guard from the Portland Trail Blazers for the entire summer. Lillard was ultimately dealt to the Milwaukee Bucks, though. In order to improve their roster, the Heat are therefore anticipated to be active in the trade market.
Siakam’s current contract is coming to an end this year. This summer, he’ll become an unrestricted free agent. Anunoby has a player option for the upcoming campaign, which he is most likely to reject. Given that they could lose both players for nothing at the end of the current campaign, Toronto is unlikely to hold onto both of them.
It makes sense, then, that teams are monitoring the Raptors’ progress. An athletic forward with respectable size, length, and skill would be a nice addition to a team like Miami’s starting lineup. Miami wouldn’t have to empty their roster in order to get a deal over the line, unlike the possible trade for Lillard.
But just because Siakam and Anunoby make
