The Miami Heat are reportedly signing free agency guard Patty Mills, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Most recently, Mills was a member of the Atlanta Hawks. But on February 29, the team waived him. Mills can play for the Heat in the postseason because the Hawks waived him before March 1. The 35-year-old is scoring 2.7 points in 10.6 minutes per game on the season.
The native of Australia joined the NBA in 2009. Most notably, in 2014, Mills and the San Antonio Spurs won an NBA championship. As a dependable bench scorer, Mills has had a successful career. The guard now plays for the 34-26 Heat, who have an 8-2 record over their previous ten games.Mills has a 38.9% career shooting percentage from beyond the arc. His ability to shoot three points is still useful in the league today. The Heat are currently the 11th-best three-point shooting club in the NBA with a 37.3 percentage. The team should benefit from Mills’ addition.
Mills adds depth and an experienced presence as well. Guards Josh Richardson and Tyler Herro are out for the Heat right now because of injuries.
