NEW DEAL: Leeds’ sporting director describes him as a “warrior,” and the club has finally agreed to make him a permanent signing.

Max Wober has been a regular for Gladbach since joining the Bundesliga club and now, sporting director Nils Schmadtke has heaped praise on the Leeds United defender on Bild – labelling Wober a “warrior”.

Wober, 25, only spent six months at Leeds – joining the club in January and forming a reunion with Jesse Marsch. He left half a season later, making the somewhat surprising switch to German side Gladbach.

Obviously, it is a return to top-tier football. But Robin Koch, Brenden Aaronson, Diego Llorente, Rasmus Kristensen and Marc Roca have joined clubs that are in Europe. Gladbach will be down there this term.

Just one win has come their way in seven Bundesliga matches. Wober has started all seven, completing 90 minutes on six occasions. They have conceded 18 goals in just seven Bundesliga matches so far.

However, Gladbach’s sporting director Schmadtke was full of praise for Wober – who has also managed to lay on two assists. He described the left-footer was a “warrior” and one that is showing leadership.
