Stuart Pearce has backed Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper and called claims that he is under pressure as “outlandish.”
The former defender, nicknamed ‘Psycho’ during his playing days for an aggressive style of play, made over 400 appearances for the Reds and managed the club between 2014 and 2015. He has since worked as an assistant manager at West Ham under David Moyes before leaving in 2022.
And the Forest legend has offered his full support to the club’s current manager. In an exclusive interview with NottinghamshireLive, Pearce was unequivocal in his verdict when asked if previous claims in the national media that Cooper’s job could be under threat are fair.
Personally, no,” he said. “I’ve seen how he’s united the football club. In regard to the fans, I think the fans have got his backing, which is brilliant to see and to be fair I think the way the away games certainly have panned out too, the difficulty of the away games.
