NEWS FLASH: Premier League star is now likely to switch agents amid Tottenham links

The Daily Mail have revealed that Brentford want to tie down Ivan Toney to a new contract in order to keep him out of the clutches of the likes of Tottenham.

Last week, we relayed a report from Football Transfers, which claimed that Tottenham are eyeing a move for Toney amidst the growing speculation over Harry Kane’s future.

It was explained that many at Spurs believe that the Brentford star, who found the back of the net 21 times last season, is the ‘ideal replacement’ for the England captain.

Toney is currently serving a football ban that ends on January 16, due to an eight-month suspension for breaching gambling rules, and it was alleged that Tottenham would be willing to wait until January to sign the England international.

The Mail have now also backed up Spurs’ interest in Toney and reveal that the striker is now likely to switch agents to CAA Stellar.

Tottenham have a good relationship with CAA Stellar, who also represents Ben Davies, Joe Rodon and Fraiser Forster (Transfermarkt).

However, the publication adds that the Bees are now looking to offer Toney a new contract as they are keen to ensure that his future is at the Gtech Community Stadium.

If Tottenham do plan on going after Toney in January, that could perhaps mean that the club would pursue a younger and lower-profile striker this summer.

However, that would be a massive gamble, particularly given that Brentford can be notoriously difficult to negotiate with.
