Harry Arter is determined to see out his contract at Nottingham Forest after failing to come to an agreement to end his stay at the City Ground.
The 33-year-old moved to the club while Forest were still in the Championship after completing a permanent transfer from Bournemouth three-years ago, but hasn’t featured for the side in the Premier League.
Arter’s last outing for the club came during a two-minute cameo against Preston in 2021 and the midfielder is still raking in £40,000-per-week, despite not being involved with the first-team.
Forest are said to be desperate to get rid of the star and attempted to engineer his exit during the summer transfer window but there was a lack of interest in the player.
A source revealed to Mail Sport that an unnamed Dubai side made an offer but were only willing to sanction a £1000-per-week salary that Arter was unwilling to accept.
More recent loan spells at National League side Notts County handed Arter minutes outside England’s professional league set-up as he made nine appearances for the club. He also featured in the FA Cup and League One for Charlton in the same season.
Further frustration has been growing from within the Forest camp after Arter was said to have returned for pre-season in an unfit condition that displeased staff at the club.
Forest, like other Premier League sides, conduct fitness tests after players return from summer holidays with Arter two kilograms over the club’s threshold.
Sources further claim there is a lack of motivation from the player to try and force his way into Steve Cooper’s first-team and is instead focused solely on seeing out the remainder of his contract.
His current deal expires at the end of the current season, however, Forest have been proactively trying to seek a solution for the player to continue playing elsewhere.
Arter wasn’t named in Forest’s Premier League squad for a second consecutive season and is instead training with the club’s academy teams.
Forest have struggled to deal with Arter’s representative, Paul Martin, and believe they are prioritising financial gain over attempting to find a suitable deal to terminate his contract.
Arter has made just 14 senior appearances for Forest since joining the club. Mail Sport have contacted the player’s representative for comment.
