NEWS NOW: Leeds United have already received a huge boost ahead of their upcoming matchup with Swansea City.

Leeds United host Swansea City at Elland Road on Wednesday night in the Championship and Georginio Rutter’s Friday exploits should stand him in good stead to be extra sharp for the game

Recovery sounded like a tall order for Georginio Rutter going into Leeds United’s clash with Rotherham United, but it’s a risk that may now pay off for Daniel Farke. Forty-eight hours before kick-off in South Yorkshire, Rutter was considered a major doubt by his manager, yet he would go on to play 70 minutes.

The 21-year-old had been unable to play any part in France’s second under-21 fixture of the break and returned to Thorp Arch with an abdominal strain. Farke and the club’s medical team began the week with caution, but Rutter slowly began clearing the hurdles they set between him and Friday’s line-up.

“He came back, wasn’t able to play for the France team on Monday and the diagnosis was abdominal strain,” said Farke. “We had [an] assessment on Tuesday, was also just able to run a little bit on Wednesday.
