Following a blockbuster trade with the LA Clippers involving James Harden, the heat find themselves with a slew of assets. Armed with draft capital and multiple expiring contracts, Daryl Morey has the pieces to swing another trade at some point before this year’s deadline.
Since the trade became official, multiple names have emerged as possible trade candidates for the Sixers. Chicago Bulls All-Star Zach LaVine and OG Anunoby were some of the first to pop up in reports. That said, another All-Star talent has been thrown into the mix.
During a recent episode of the HoopsHype Podcast, Michael Scotto brought up players the Sixers could target with their new haul of assets. Along with mentioning LaVine and Anunoby, he also brought up Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell as someone the team might monitor.
“Some potential targets to keep an eye on for Philadelphia include Zach LaVine, who can spread the floor and OG Anunoby, who is loved by coach Nick Nurse, which I think is important. He offers two-way versatility on both sides of the ball, and the 76ers will have the necessary cap space to re-sign him this summer,” Scotto said. “Other names Philadelphia will monitor include Cavaliers All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell and Pistons forward Bojan Bogdanovic, I’m told.
With the Cavs looking to compete right now, prying Mitchell away could be a tall task. That said, if the organization doesn’t believe he’s going to sign an extension, they could explore possibilities of moving him. After this season, Mitchell has one year left on his contract and then a player option for 2026.
