Wales manager Rob Page pushed Leeds United star Dan James to leave the Elland Road team and join a Premier League team back in the summer, but James is happy that he stayed put.
James, 26, spent the previous season on loan at Fulham before coming back to Leeds in the summer. a loan during which he was expected to gain a lot of experience in the field before the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
But things didn’t go as planned. For the whole season, Fulham only played 23 games and scored three goals. James had not had time to settle into a routine at Fulham. Returned to Leeds, he had three years left on his contract.
Few connections were made with Premier League teams. Maybe because James’s contract has a good deal of remaining time on it and because he didn’t start playing on loan at Fulham.
However, on BBC Sport, Page pleaded with Premier League teams to sign James, saying, “I do think DJ (James) is a Premier League player.” Personally, I would sign him if I were the manager of a Premier League team and I learned he was free.
Rob Page desired Dan James’ departure from Leeds during the summer.
Thankfully, from Leeds’ perspective, he stayed put. However, James will also undoubtedly be happy that he chose to wear a Leeds shirt despite the National Team manager’s advice.
He has performed admirably. With 15 league games under his belt and eight goals assisted, his confidence has returned. The diminutive winger has four goals and four assists.
