Latest Nottingham Forest news as Reds youngster Aaron Donnelly facing spell on the sidelines
Defender Aaron Donnelly has returned to Nottingham Forest after suffering an injury blow early in his loan spell.
The youngster was due to spend the season north of the border with Dundee after making the move last month. However, his stint at Dens Park has been temporarily halted.
Donnelly damaged ankle ligaments in training and is facing a spell on the sidelines. He has returned to the Reds for treatment, with the Daily Record quoting Dees boss Tony Docherty as saying the 20-year-old “will be out for a while”.
Donnelly is highly regarded at the City Ground. He earned praise from head coach Steve Cooper after he made his Forest debut in last term’s Carabao Cup victory at Grimsby Town
A successful loan to Port Vale followed, with Donnelly joining the club in January and going on to make 20 appearances. He capped a memorable campaign with his first senior international call-up for Northern Ireland, having already represented his country at Under-21 level.
