Leeds United manager Daniel Farke revealed this week that right-back Djed Spence is pushing towards a recovery from his knee injury, seeing him return after the international break.
The Whites are now out of action for a fortnight after their clash with Bristol City, waiting two weeks before travelling to Norwich City, Daniel Farke’s former and most notable employers.
The Canaries are looking like a strong shout for a promotion push this season under fellow German David Wagner, and Farke will know his side has to be at their strongest to come away from Carrow Road with a result.
This week’s preparations for games against QPR and Bristol City saw Farke confirm in his pre-match press conference that right-back Djed Spence is progressing in his recovery from knee injury.
He injured his lateral collateral ligament in training during the September international break, meaning he has been unable to build on his solitary sub appearance thus far.
Farke shared, via Phil Hay, that the right-back is due back after the upcoming international break
The signing of Spence was one that gained a lot of excitement from Leeds fans, and for good reason too, given what we know about the 23-year-old’s quality in possession.
He even showed it in his very brief appearance off the bench against Sheffield Wednesday, gliding past challenges like they weren’t even there.
With Farke’s selection headache of Luke Ayling and Jamie Shackleton recently, he must be delighted to know his guaranteed best option for the position is ready and waiting.
A trip to Norwich in two weeks’ time needs Leeds on their A-game, and Spence puts Leeds far closer to the peak of their powers
