Jimmy Butler of the Miami Heat has generated a lot of conversation this week.
Butler showed up at the Heat’s Media Day with a brand new look and it got people talking.
His “emo” appearance left some people laughing and some scratching their heads.
Butler doesn’t care about the reactions he gets and isn’t going to change the way that he does things.
“I’m not bothering anybody. People just like to pay attention to what I’m doing. People care about me a little bit, I guess,” Butler said about people hating on him, according to the Miami Herald via NBACentral.
Anyone who knows Butler isn’t surprised by this comment.
Butler’s “emo” phase isn’t the first time he has created headlines because of his antics and personality.
Throughout his career, he has been fond of changing his appearance, speaking his mind, playing around, and having fun.
He wants to enjoy himself and this is just one of the ways he does that.
Butler really is unbothered by any negative perception of him because he is much more focused on leading his team and winning.
In 2022-23, Butler averaged 22.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 5.3 assists.
He was one of the main reasons why the Heat were able to surprise just about everyone and make it all the way to the NBA Finals.
Along the way, Butler was animated on the court and honest and open during press conferences.
Just like his recent fashion choices, people took note of that too.
However, Butler isn’t going to stop being Butler.
He is going to keep being himself, knowing the only thing that really matters is his track record on the floor.
