According to Tuttosport newspaper, Juventus a €25m bid from Nottingham Forest for Federico Gatti in August.
The Italian defender scored a late winner in Juventus’ 2-1 win over Monza on Friday, helping the Old Lady return to the top of the table waiting for tonight’s meeting between Napoli and Inter at the Stadio Maradona.
According to the report, Massimiliano Allegri blocked Gatti’s exit after a pre-season tour in the USA, where the former Frosinone defender impressed the Old Lady’s boss.
Gatti, 25, has been a regular starter at the Allianz Stadium this season with 12 Serie A appearances and two goals.
He was called up by Italy coach Luciano Spalletti in October and November. Gatti had made his senior Italy debut under Roberto Mancini in a 0-0 draw against England in 2022.
The Italian defender joined the Old Lady from Frosinone in 2022 and has made 39 appearances for Juventus. He has recently signed a contract extension at the Allianz Stadium so his current deal runs out in June 2028.
