NEWS REPORT: Leeds United rejected offers for star player to leave Elland Road…..

Uncategorized

Leeds United striker Georginio Rutter was a target for Borussia Dortmund in the summer, with the Bundesliga runners-up willing to pay £25.2million.

The Whites did well to retain a great deal of their attacking talents in the summer, as Daniel Farke inherited a side rife with players keen to leave.

Georginio Rutter endured a tough start to life in West Yorkshire with relegation, but is flourishing under new management at Elland Road.

Could Rutter have left Leeds?

Like virtually every player in the Leeds squad during the summer window, there was scope for Rutter to leave the club, with offers on the table.

However, it is reported by Ruhr24 (via Sport Witness) that Borussia Dortmund were very keen on taking the Frenchman off of Leeds’ hands, having narrowly missed out on the Bundesliga title on the final day last term.

An offer from Dortmund was made to Leeds amounting to €25million (£21.7m), which Leeds outright rejected after paying significantly more to buy him in January.

It is also revealed that Leeds of course rejected the deal out of hand, not willing to let the striker go for a price lower than they signed him for.

However, Dortmund were willing to go higher than they bid they tabled, claiming that they would have been willing to go as high as £25.2million.

There was no chance that we were going to make a loss on Rutter after signing him for £36million mere months ago.

He might not be the finished article or the most consistent player, but he is clearly incredibly talented and an important part of this side.

His performances thus far have been very encouraging and I’m sure that Farke will continue to get the best out of him.

If we get promoted, his value could rocket.
