The Detroit Lions are among the clear contenders in the NFL right now, leading the NFC North division with a 5-2 record through their first seven games of the season. But just because they’re contending doesn’t mean they’re going to rush to make any high-profile trades ahead of next week’s NFL trade deadline.
During a press conference this week, Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell made it clear that while the team will consider making a trade that would help the team for the right value, they don’t want to force anything because they don’t want to mess with what’s already working for the team this season.
“First of all, the value’s got to be right,” Campbell said, via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. “It’s got to be something that we feel like can help us, fits us. But it also can’t be something that’s going to mess with what we got going on here.
“[G.M. Brad Holmes is] mindful of that and I appreciate that about him, that he knows what I’m talking about, what we’re about. And we’re not going to mess with the vibe of this team.”
It seems like the Lions are willing to make a move, but they’re also perfectly content with what they have.
