last season was a monumental success for the Miami Heat as they were able to win the Eastern Conference Championship and reach the NBA Finals. Unfortunately for Miami, they ran into a Denver Nuggets team with Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray both playing some of the best basketball of their careers.
With much of the same roster intact for Miami, they will be hoping to once again get to the NBA Finals this season, and this time, hopefully winning it.
So far this offseason, most of the talk surrounding the Miami Heat has been about Damian Lillard. With Lillard’s time in Portland seemingly coming to an end, the Heat have been linked as a destination for Lillard. However, acquiring a player like Lillard will take a big trade package and those things generally take time.
In the meantime, Bleacher Report recently linked available free agents to certain teams that would be a good fit. On the list, TJ Warren was listed as a player the Heat should pursue.
Warren is a versatile forward who showed last season that he can play at both the three and the four, which in the NBA nowadays is important for forwards. Last season with the Brooklyn Nets and Phoenix Suns, Warren averaged 7.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, and shot 48.9 percent from the floor.
While Warren isn’t a superstar in the league, he is certainly a serviceable rotation player who can stretch the floor and provide minutes off the bench. The Heat were a team that struggled to score at times last season, and that is something Warren can help with off the bench.
We will likely have to wait and see what happens with the potential Lillard trade, but Warren could be a name to keep an eye on for the Heat.
