NEWS Report: Newcastle have made their final decision about signing £65m attacker in the transfer window….

If the Newcastle United owners really wanted to make a statement this summer, they would make a move for Neymar.

The 31-year-old has decided that he wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain, and it has been claimed that the Magpies are one of few European clubs who can actually afford the Brazilian superstar.

While that is only based on PIF’s wealth and not the financial position of the club, the ‘Neymar to Newcastle’ rumours have reared their ugly head once again – despite him clearly not suiting what Eddie Howe is building at St James’ Park.

He is the type of superstar name that the Saudi owners would love to have on Tyneside, and why wouldn’t they? He is one of the best players on the planet with the type of profile that would take the club’s reputation to a completely different stratosphere.

But despite all that, journalist Ben Jacobs has confirmed what pretty much every Newcastle fan already knew.

Newcastle do not plan on signing Neymar

Jacobs has told Give Me Sport that Newcastle have no interest in signing Neymar from PSG this summer. He adds that the Brazil international will leave for at least £45million, with the Ligue 1 champions keen to get him off the wage bill.

And while Neymar is reportedly keen to keep playing in Europe, his wages make a move to Newcastle a non-starter. He earns around £600,000-a-week at PSG, and there is absolutely no way that the Magpies would be able to match that.

These types of rumours are really frustrating, because Newcastle fans know that there is no chance of Neymar coming to St James’ Park. The finances would just be crazy, and he is the exact opposite type of player to what the club have been targeting since the change of ownership.

But that will not stop the rumours. They will persist, just like they did with Cristiano Ronaldo, Eden Hazard and more.

In a way, it is kind of amusing. And it is quite fun to imagine the prospect of Neymar playing on the left wing for Newcastle with Paul Dummett behind him.

When you think of it like that, let’s make it happen!!!
