The Magpies are said to be one of several clubs monitoring a Brazilian youth star
Leeds United are set to lose Jack Harrison on a cut-price deal following their relegation from the Premier League.
Although the Whites are looking to bounce back to England’s top-flight at the first time of asking, they are resigned to losing a number of key players such as Tyler Adams, Rodrigo and Harrison
After a move to Leicester City fell through at the 11th hour in January, Harrison committed his future to Leeds by signing a new contract five-year contract.
But it has been reported by talkSPORT this week that a relegation clause was inserted, meaning the 26-year-old is set to be available for a reduced fee this summer.
Newcastle United are understood to have had two bids rejected for Harrison last summer. The Magpies tabled offers around the £20million mark but Leeds demanded £35m.
Leeds chief executive Angus Kinnear seemingly mocked United over their attempts to sign Harrison in his programme notes before their 1-1 with Everton in August
We have rebuffed numerous offers for players that are still core to our playing strategy, including one that, based on its value, was only for Jack Harrison’s right leg,” he wrote.
Indeed, it’s unlikely Eddie Howe, after guiding Newcastle to Champions League qualification, will revisit a move for Harrison, though a cut-price deal could alter his thinking.
With Howe’s men playing in four competitions next season – the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup – players such as Harrison, who can become proven squad players, could come into the head coach’s thinking.
In 107 Premier League games, the former Manchester City winger boasts a decent record of 21 goals and 16 assists
