Nottingham Forest are one of several clubs weighing up a move to sign Galatasaray winger Kerem Akturkoglu. The Reds will go in search of more new players in January and the 24-year-old is on the radar.
According to Team Talk, no fewer than six clubs fancy him when the window reopens. Tottenham, Aston Villa, West Ham, Everton and Brighton are all thought to be considering a move for the player.
Given his tender years, the player still has some unearthed potential. He’s made a blistering start to 2023/24, scoring five goals and claiming seven assists in 16 appearances in all competitions.
Forest want Akturkoglu
It’s fair to say that Forest could perhaps do with another winger. Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi were added to the ranks in the summer but more quality will be sought.
That comes in the aftermath of Brennan Johnson’s departure to Tottenham. The club will feel that Hudson-Odoi could replace the youngster in the here and now but Elanga might be viewed as a work-in-progress player.
Akturkoglu looks destined to play in a big European league at some point. His record of 34 goals and 37 assists in 135 games isn’t too bad and it’s no surprise clubs are pouncing.
Akturkoglu could star in England
The winger is a Turkey international and he fits the profile of the sort of player that Forest like to sign these days. He’s young, has a lot of potential and would likely have a point to prove.
He has been called a ‘wizard’ in Turkey by fans and media alike. That’s due to his ability to simply glide beyond opposition defenders and he’s a player who gets supporters off their seats.
The player could really star under Steve Cooper. With bigger teams in the mix to sign him, however, this could be one that the club has to pull all of the stops out to complete.
