Nottingham Forest were really interested in signing Tyler Adams from Leeds United in the summer but were put off by his injury.

That is according to the Athletic, who report Adams’ ongoing hamstring injury meant Cooper was unsure about signing him, with Bournemouth eventually taking the chance late in the window.

Adams last played a professional football game in March having picked up a serious hamstring injury in training that has seen him miss almost six months of action.

It is the first real serious injury of Adams’ career and after looking like he would return for USA’s international fixtures in June, then suffered a recurrence of the issue which saw him miss the entirety of pre-season under Daniel Farke.

San Francisco 49ers Enterprises had wanted to keep Adams this season but unfortunately, the 24-year-old made it clear he wanted to return to the Premier League.

He had looked as though he would be joining Chelsea and even underwent a medical before they pulled the plug on a deal at the final moment to pursue moves for Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia instead.

Despite interest from Forest and Aston Villa, it was then Bournemouth who swooped in to sign him for a fee in the region of £23 million.

Forest had been linked with a move for Adams right from the very start of the window but opted to spend big money elsewhere due to his injury record.

Steve Cooper’s side conducted some highly impressive late midfield business, bringing in Ibrahim Sangare from PSV, Nicolas Dominguez from Bologna and Andrey Santos from Chelsea.
