News Report: Rangers boss Philippe Clement will be left purring after Superb training-ground development……

Philippe Clement was in attendance for Rangers B’s 3-2 loss to Breidablik on Sunday (21 October) and would have been impressed by one thing in particular he saw.

The friendly at Auchenhowie may have ended in defeat for the Gers, but it gave recently appointed Clement an opportunity to check over some fringe players.

An experimental line-up was fielded against Europa Conference League side Breidablik, with the likes of a returning Danilo, Ben Davies and Leon Balogun featuring, as well as a number of players aiming to break into the Gers’ first team.

Bailey Rice and Ross McCausland, aged 20 and 17 respectively, already have experience of playing for the senior side and may well get more chances to impress under Clement.

The pair linked up superbly for Rangers’ first goal against Breidablik to make it 1-1 at a time, no doubt leaving Clement purring on the sidelines alongside his right-hand man Stephan van der Heyden.

As described by Heart and Hand contributor James on Twitter [22 October], Rice played a “signature long ball over the top” and McCausland “brilliantly” controlled before rounding off a “superb” goal.

Both players are at the start of their careers, of course, but their link-up play is something that Clement may well want to tap into with a gruelling run of fixtures coming up.

In a contest that fizzled out and ultimately ended in defeat, Clement would have seen enough to ensure it was a trip worthwhile on what was presumably supposed to be a day off.

Even if results have not been all that great this season, the Light Blues can rest assured that the future under Clement looks a lot brighter once these youngsters are fully-fledged members of the first team.
