News Report: Rangers outcasts handed golden opportunity to impress Clement amid new Ibrox development….

New Rangers manager Philippe Clement has a lot of work to do to get his squad into shape if they are to close the gap on fierce rivals Celtic.

And he could not have started his tenure in better fashion, with the Gers easing past Hibernian 4-0 in his first match in the dugout.

Summer arrivals Abdallah Sima (two) and Cyriel Dessers were on target, with Nicolas Raskin scoring the other goal at Ibrox on Saturday (21 October).

The new boss doesn’t have much time at all, however, to mull over that win, with his side in action on Thursday (26 October, in what is a huge match for the Belgian.

Rangers travel to the Czech Republic to take on Sparta Prague in a Europa League group stage clash, with the sides level on three points from their two games each.

Closer to home, however, there is an important match taking place, with a Rangers XI meeting a Hearts select team this week, according to the Daily Record. The publication noted that Clement will use the encounter to hand minutes to the players who are lacking game time.

While many players made a very good impression in front of their new boss against Hibs, others who missed out on the opportunity for whatever reason now have a brand new chance to really stand out from the crowd.

The fixture comes with the added bonus of Clement getting to grips with a team that Rangers will meet in two very important games in the near future.

The Gers welcome Hearts to Ibrox on Sunday (29 October) for a Scottish Premiership clash before they meet at Hampden Park in the Scottish League Cup semi-final on 5 November.
