Steve Cooper should look to start Harry Toffolo for Saturday’s trip to face Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace.
The 28-year-old left-back was brought on in the 60th minute against Brentford last weekend after Moussa Niakhate was given his marching orders after picking up two yellow cards.
Cooper’s side look to be light in the left-back area, with Ola Aina and Nuno Tavares struggling with injury and Niakhate serving his suspension.
Former Huddersfield man Toffolo was solid when he was given his chance, even providing the assist for Nicolas Dominguez’s inch-perfect header.
Although he’s struggled for consistent game time at the City Ground, Toffolo has been the model professional.
Not once has he publicly complained about his lack of minutes, instead he puts in a shift to stake his claim for a starting position as he did against Brentford last Sunday.
Every time he puts on the colours of Forest, he gives 100% and from a fan’s perspective that is all you can ask for from a player representing your club.
Toffolo deserves a start against Palace
Speaking after his impact in the Brentford game last weekend, Toffolo admitted that it’s important he makes an impact in any way possible for the club.
“I think it’s very important for myself and other players to come off the bench and make an impact like we managed to do.
“It just shows you the depth we have, these are players who haven’t been in the squad and they’re still coming in to contribute to the team. It shows you how together the group is.”
He’s certainly got the attitude to be a success at the club, with his cameo against the Bees putting his words into action.
With the current injury situation ahead of the trip to Selhurst Park, Toffolo deserves the chance to start and hopefully build on last Sunday’s cameo.
