Ndidi, a defensive midfielder by trade, has emerged this season as a creative force in a Leicester squad that is soaring in the Championship.
The Nigerian has three goals and four assists in all competitions this season, and the Foxes are currently big favorites to return to the Premier League.
Ndidi’s breakthrough as a creative midfielder this season has surprised Hammond, who believes that players often decline with age.
With a nod to Winks’ comments about the manager’s approach, he commended Maresca’s coaching for getting the best out of players and developing the natural potential of people such as the Leicester midfielder.
“It’s an interesting one because it usually works the other way around,” the former Leicester City player stated on the BBC’s When You’re Smiling Podcast.
“Attacking midfielders usually drop back as they get older and more experienced, losing a little bit of sharpness and pace, but Wilf has done the opposite.”
“I think that just goes down to how good a coach the manager is.”According to Harry Winks, the manager tends to focus on what the players do well rather than what they don’t do well and zero in on it in order to improve on their natural skill.
“Wilf is a fantastic footballer; he has been brilliant for Leicester City.”
