The Miami Heat will consider dealing Caleb Martin with the trade deadline of February 8 just a few days away, according to a recent report.
In the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals versus the Boston Celtics, the forward dazzled on a grand scale. Considering that he shot 60.2 percent from the field, he scored 19.3 points per game with remarkable efficiency in his seven games with the Heat during that series.
In the series’ pivotal Game 7, he may have saved his best play for last, scoring 26 points in 45 minutes of action.
In the present era, Martin has made appearances in 33 of the Heat’s 50 games played thus far in the 2023–24 regular season. In his third season in Miami, he is averaging 10.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 36.6 percent from beyond the arc on 44.6 percent of his field goal attempts.
In his 31 minutes of action off the Miami bench during the team’s defeat by the Los Angeles Clippers on February 4, the 28-year-old contributed. Martin made 5-of-9 shots from the field and 0-of-2 from three-point range to finish with 11 points, four rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
Miami had not lost in the previous three games prior to their defeat by the Clippers. The Heat defeated the Sacramento Kings and Washington Wizards before losing to the Clippers.
