During this year’s game, Nevada saw an all-time high in legal Super Bowl gambling.
The Nevada Gaming Control Board said that wagers totaling $185.6 million were placed at Nevada sports books. Unsurprisingly, for the first Super Bowl held in Nevada, that is the most money wagered on the game in Nevada history.
Nevada sports books are still making a lot of money, even with competition from the spread of legal sports betting throughout the nation. $6.8 million was lost by bettors on the game.
According to senior economic analyst Michael Lawton of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, “the wagering on the Super Bowl delivered an all-time record and definitely met our expectations,” the Las Vegas Review-Journal was informed. The matchup with a West Coast team from the No. 2 ranking was one of the factors that determined this year’s totals.
